Winter Music Fest Info

The year 2022 represents the 19th year of the Florence Winter Music Festival. The festival broadened its tent in 2016, changing its name from the Winter Folk Festival to its current name, the Winter Music Festival. As noted in our mission statement below.

Mission Statement

The Mission of the FACE Florence Winter Music Festival is to bring the richness, variety, and storytelling of today’s acoustic music (emphasis on folk) to the community; provide music-related educational opportunities to our schools, and support the operation of the Florence Event Center.

The Florence Winter Music Festival relies on the dedication of 50 volunteers to produce the festival. Volunteer opportunities include year-round fundraising, ticket sales, marketing, and administrative support, ushering in the theater on event night, stagehands, lighting, sound technicians, merchandise sales, and beyond. We welcome folks of all ages and all skill levels!

A cornerstone of the FACE mission is the distribution of performance grants to qualifying nonprofits. Grants total over $5,000 each year.

Outreach & Education

The cornerstone of the Winter Music Festival is the annual Kids Concerts. The year 2022 represents the 20th year of this important entertainment and educational outreach. In fact, the only live music that emanated from our festival in 2021 was that of Greg Blake and Annie Savage and their band. Due to the dedication of Rachel I. Pearson and the commitment of local school administrators, Greg’s and Annie’s music was broadcast live from the living room of Annie’s farmhouse in Iowa to classrooms right here in Florence, OR. Now folks, around these parts that is known as a commitment!

For 2022, Appalachian Road Show is on point for two shows, and it is our sincere hope that the kids in grades 1-5 in Reedsport, Mapleton, and right here in Florence are able to safely congregate in the FEC’s theater to enjoy a magical ride through the land of bluegrass. We are prepared to live-stream these performances in the event that the kids are unable to safely assemble due to COVID-related concerns. Live streaming allows all eligible kids to be included!

Over 20 years a lot has changed with the Florence Winter Music Festival and a great deal has been accomplished — all thanks to our performers, fans, partners, volunteers, and donors.
